Wall Street returned to its winning ways this week — and Nvidia 's blowout earnings report Wednesday night was a big reason why. Twenty-six of our 32 portfolio stocks have delivered their results this earnings season (we didn't own Abbott Labs at the time of its report). It was a muted week for macroeconomic data, but we did get a slightly better-than-expected January existing home sales report on Thursday. In the week ahead, two more Club names are set to report earnings before a market-moving economic update arrives Thursday morning. The two other reports of note are the January new home sales report on Monday and ISM Manufacturing report on Friday.

The major averages rebounded strongly this week as quarterly earnings came in largely better than expected and interest rates fell on softer economic data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose more than 5% for its best week since October 2022. The big theme next week is earnings and the four portfolio companies delivering their quarterly results. Here's the full rundown of all the important domestic data in the week ahead as we consider a number areas of our portfolio for trades next week. Retail investor interest in artificial intelligence is cooling — but not every stock is feeling the pressure, according to Vanda Research. It also arrives amid a broader pullback among retail investors, he noted. "Retail investors' net buying of US securities remains low relative to previous years - particularly within the realm of AI stocks, which are witnessing diminishing retail interest as the initial fervor surrounding the sector wanes," Iachini said. But that resilience in the face of rapidly growing short interest can be a "cautionary flag" of a future slide in retail trader interest. Short interest in Nvidia has declined, coinciding with a jump in the stock price, Iachini said.

Economic releases : The Labor Department releases its monthly consumer price index and producer price index on Thursday and Friday, respectively. For that reason, we'd be content if the July figure doesn't indicate a resurgence of rising wholesale costs, which is a concern given a recent uptick in energy prices. On Tuesday before the opening bell, Club holding Eli Lilly (LLY) reports. Finally, Club names Walt Disney (DIS) and Wynn Resorts (WYNN) will report on Wednesday after the closing bell. OAKLAND, Calif., Jan 31 (Reuters) - Sydney-based startup Q-CTRL, whose software helps run quantum computers more accurately, said on Tuesday it raised $27.4 million with Salesforce Ventures joining as a new investor. Billions of dollars have been invested to prepare for the moment quantum computers can outperform classical computers on important tasks as those could be industry changing, experts say. Several quantum computer makers say they will have over a thousand qubits in the next one to two years. Q-CTRL's software helps see through some of that static to increase the chances of reading the right answer from the quantum machine. It works with both quantum computer hardware and software makers, including IBM (IBM.N), IONQ (IONQ.N), and Classiq.
OAKLAND, Calif. Jan 24 (Reuters) - Paris-based quantum computer startup PASQAL on Tuesday said it had raised 100 million euros ($109 million) and aims to deliver major commercial advantages over classical computers by next year using the fresh funds. The investment is the biggest private funding round for a quantum computer startup in Europe, according to Georges-Olivier Reymond, CEO and co-founder of PASQAL. It comes as the stock price collapse of three New York-listed quantum computer makers, IonQ Inc (IONQ.N), Rigetti Computing , and D-wave Quantum has made funding for the sector challenging. Scientists expect quantum computers could one day make certain calculations millions of times faster than the fastest super computers today. The number of qubits, or quantum bits, is an indication of the power of the quantum computer.
Rainwater Tech to list in New York via SPAC merger

Led by Mike Nefkens, the former president of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services, Rain Enhancement Technologies - to be known as Rainwater Tech - plans to commercialize a method known as ground-based ionization that makes clouds drop more rain. The merger values Rainwater Tech at $200 million, with dMY VI using the $241 million it raised through its initial public offering in October 2021 to capitalize the company. "This is not a technology which creates rain out of blue sky, but it is about maximizing the amount of rain when the conditions are right," Nefkens said. "We are seeing a rotation in investor sentiment from things which are nice to have towards things which we can't live without," said Niccolo de Masi, CEO of dMY VI. OAKLAND, Calif., Nov 1 (Reuters) - Quantum computer startup QuEra, born from researchers at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said on Tuesday its computer is now accessible to the public through Amazon.com (AMZN.O) cloud's quantum computer service Braket. It is the first neutral atom quantum computer to join Braket, which offers five other quantum computers on the cloud - Rigetti Computing, IonQ, D-Wave, Xanadu Quantum Technologies and Oxford Quantum Circuits. Richard Moulds, Braket's general manager, said the service makes it easy and cost effective for researchers to test out different types of quantum computers. Braket, which has been up and running for over two years, has a software layer that allows researchers to use their algorithms for any of the quantum computers on the cloud. Amazon is also developing its own quantum computer, said Moulds.
"In a five- to 10-year timeframe, quantum computing will break encryption as we know it." Since its conceptual birth in the early 1980s, quantum computing has held promise for systems that could exponentially outperform today's computers. Rather than leaning on the zeroes and ones of classical computers, quantum computers emerged from quantum physics, which is the study of the fundamental building blocks of matter and energy. Those strange properties account for the technology's potentially explosive abilities; each additional qubit doubles a quantum computer's power. They are named D-Wave Systems , Rigetti Computing, IonQ , and Quantum Computing.
This is the pitch deck French quantum computing startup Pasqal used to raise a $29.3 million Series A in June. Pasqal competes with giants like IBM, Microsoft, Google, Intel, and Amazon in quantum computing. The French quantum computing startup Pasqal has big plans for the next two years. It's planning to provide cloud access to its quantum computing services to customers by the end of 2022 and a full quantum computing device operating on the cloud by 2023. Still, cloud quantum computing is early, and some experts predict it may take another five to 10 years to be ready for commercial use.
Amazon was relatively quiet about quantum computing until it announced Amazon Braket in 2019. Amazon Web Services has been ramping up its quantum computing partnerships in the past few months. Along with that, AWS will offer cloud software from Quantum Computing Inc., which helps companies solve business problems using quantum computing, and it recently partnered with BMW to launch a quantum computing challenge to crowdsource automative projects in the field. That silence ended in 2019 when AWS announced its quantum computing service, Amazon Braket. In quantum computing, there's a lot of "noise" that gets in the way of solving problems, so this approach aims to reduce errors.
